Leveling and Adjusting Your Pool Table

An unlevel pool table can ruin even the most perfect shot. Over time, floors settle, wood expands, and bolts loosen — causing unevenness. This guide covers how to check and correct it.

Signs Your Table Isn’t Level

– Balls consistently roll to one side.

– Shots lose accuracy in the same direction.

– Visual sag in the slate or frame.

Tools You’ll Need

– A carpenter’s level or digital level

– Shims or adjustable leg levelers

– A helper to assist in lifting corners

Step-by-Step Leveling

1. Check All Sides: Place the level lengthwise, across, and diagonally.

2. Adjust the Legs: Use built-in levelers or add thin shims under the legs.

3. Fine-Tune Slate Level: On some tables, you can adjust the slate directly with small bolts under the frame.

4. Test with a Ball: Roll a ball slowly across the table; it should travel straight and true.
